Protection of the Children of God – The foremost blessing
Please read Who is a 'Child of God' (smoothstoneministry.com) if you have not already before you proceed.
Throughout Biblical history, we see many children of God and the miraculous protection God provides them in times of trouble. These are given to us through the “Word of God”, for us to believe and inherit in our life.
Psalms 91:1-2 'He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”'
This is a verse that we have learnt as kids. The 1st verse talks of a secret place of the Most High.
Where is this secret place of the Most High?
Psalms 119:114 'You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.'
Psalms 32:7 'You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah'
The psalmist helps us identify this “Secret Place of the Most High”. The place is in Him. In His mighty presence. A child of God, who has accepted Jesus as his /her personal saviour, is Baptised in the name of the Father, Son & the Holy Spirit and has been sealed with the Holy Spirit as His son/daughter when kneels and prays – He who is faithful fills them with His Presence. This is the Secret Place. Man can't find this secret place by himself, but God Himself leads the child of God into this “Secret Place of the Most High”.
This access to the secret place is the first and foremost blessing for a Child of God.
If you read through Psalms 91, the blessings of this protection are multifold. They are protected from disease that ravages the land, they are protected from the poisonous snake and Scorpion. The charge over them is given to Angels. Remember, 1 angel was enough to kill 1,85,000 of the Assyrian army in 1 night – that’s how powerful Angels are (II Kings 19:35).
Daniel and his friends were protected by God from hungry Lions and a fiery furnace because they prayed without ceasing. Thus they dwelt in the secret place of the Most High.
When Paul and Silus were arrested for preaching the word of God, an angel was sent to open the prison doors - Acts 5:18-19 'and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, '
And in Acts 16, Paul and Silas are imprisoned again. When we read the scripture carefully, we realize that this time they were locked in the innermost parts of the prison and bound by chains. Maybe the men thought these 2 could have escaped the prison because they were cunning. But this time the Lord shook the earth and the prison doors opened and the shackles loosened. God had allowed this imprisonment to help Paul and Silas preach to the Philippian jailer about Jesus Christ. And we see in the same chapter that he and his household were saved.
A child of God in the Secret Place of the Most High will never be let down.
Praise the Lord!
Glory to Jesus.
