Wisdom & Understanding – A Blessing from God

Solomon’s name rings a bell when we hear “Wisdom & Understanding”.  He was blessed by God with wisdom & understanding.

How do you gain this blessing?

The psalmist writes “'The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.' In Psalms 111:10

Wisdom comes when one fears God. This fear of God is called the “reverential fear”. This is not the shaking fear one has when put before a roaring lion. This fear brings a sense of peace and calm in the spirit of man.

Solomon says 'For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.' In Ecclesiastes 2:26.

A worldly person, who does not fear God, gathers a lot of riches that the righteous and God-fearing man may get it all easily later. So be careful when you set your priorities in life. The bible says 'But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. ' Matthew 6:33

Keep “Fear of God” as your priority in life. When you fear God, you will not listen to human guidance contrary to divine wisdom. And all the worldly needs will be met Divinely.

When I was prompted in the spirit to write on this topic, the first verse that I had read was 'Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;' Proverbs 9:1

I couldn’t figure out what these 7 pillars were. By His grace, I came upon the verse below - 'But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. ' James 3:17

This will help us differentiate between Godly wisdom and the Worldly or Satanic wisdom. A person who possesses Godly wisdom, would be peaceable, pure, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy & good fruits. The person will not act partially and will not be a hypocrite. These 7 pillars are proof of the Wisdom from above

What are the good fruits?

Galatians 5:22-23 reveals the good fruits. 'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. '

These good fruits are with the person who is baptized by the Holy Spirit. And only by this anointing will a person be a child of God. So, a child of God will have the Wisdom from above which Job talks about in Job 28:27-28  'Then He saw wisdom and declared it; He prepared it, indeed, He searched it out. And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.’ ”'
