Jesus was Scared of only this!

If you fear this too, you will keep yourself from sinning.
"And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground."— Luke 22:44
Hematidrosis—also known as "bloody sweat"—is a rare condition where blood is excreted through the skin, often in association with extreme stress or intense emotional states. The blood mixes with sweat and appears on the surface of the skin, especially in areas with many sweat glands.Hematidrosis is usually associated with extreme stress, fear, or overwhelming emotional pressure.
What caused the intense emotional stress in Jesus, the Lord?Did Jesus fear death? No.If we knew the exact day and manner of our death, how stricken would we be? Just imagine being told you will die in five days. What would your state of mind be—[anxious? uncertain? afraid?]Jesus knew the manner of His death. He had willingly submitted to it. Acts 2:23 says,
“Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death.”
His death was already determined in the [foreknowledge] of God.
So if Jesus was not afraid of death, what caused the hematidrosis in the Garden of Gethsemane?
Even on the cross, after enduring the physical torment of no food, no water, no sleep, and being beaten and humiliated, bleeding from head to toe for almost 18 hours—(He was arrested at night, which means He had not slept the entire night)—the Bible does not say He cried out in despair.
Even, While hanging on the cross:
Jesus prayed for mercy for His tormentors in Luke 23:34
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
He offered salvation to a repentant thief beside Him in Luke 23:43
“Truly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
And He surrendered His spirit with a prayer of submission in Luke 23:46
“Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit!”
This final cry also affirms that Jesus had the power to give His life—He was in complete control. He had already said in John 10:17–18:
“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself.I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
But the most profound moment comes in Mark 15:34:
“And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?’ which means, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?’”
Why then did Jesus cry out as if He had no hope?
By His grace, the Holy Spirit revealed the truth sometime back. It is overwhelming and reveals the depth of love that God the Father and Jesus His Son have for us.
“He shall lay his hand on the head of the bull, and kill the bull before the Lord.”— Leviticus 4:4
Laying on of hands symbolized identification with the animal—the sin was symbolically transferred. Similarly, the sin of the world was placed on the One who knew no sin:
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” — 2 Corinthians 5:21
This burden of sin cut off Jesus from the Father. This separation is what Jesus couldn’t bear. He foresaw this moment while praying in Gethsemane, and the stress of it caused His blood to mix with His sweat.
As Christians, we should fear only one thing—being separated from Jesus.
Sin is what separates us from Him. But His grace gives us strength to remain connected. The moment we take our eyes off His grace and look at the world—like Eve looking at the fruit—we stumble. When we stumble, our conscience will prick us, drawing us back to Jesus in repentance, like the prodigal son.
When you stumble, meditate on the pain Jesus endured, to the point of being cut off from His Father, so that we might be united with Him.
Also, reflect on the pain of God the Father, seeing His only begotten Son being killed mercilessly like a criminal.Imagine yourself in His place.Could you stand still if your child was being assaulted—especially if you had the power to stop it?
God the Father did just that, so you and I could have a way back to Heaven.
But if we keep sinning willfully, silencing our conscience, we risk separation from our Master.
So, meditate daily on the peace He has placed in your heart, even during life’s storms. Pray each day for the grace to stay attached to Jesus.
That is the only way we can win and receive the grand prize of heavenly citizenship.
Praise the Lord!
Glory be to Jesus.
