The Secret of becoming incorruptible in this sinful world.
The Cedars of Lebanon are very unique. They are a symbol of Grandeur, resilience and strength. They grow very tall, are naturally pest repellant and give out a sweet aroma.
As I was praying a few days ago, The Holy Spirit prompted me to write about how a Christian should be transformed like the Cedars of Lebanon to be useful to Him in building the Church of Christ.
King Solomon used timbers from the cedars of Lebanon in building the first temple of God. The wood was prized in the ancient days by Egyptians, Phoenicians, Assyrians, and Babylonians to build their temples, ships, palaces etc.
Ø In Psalm 92:12, the Bible says“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.”The cedar represents spiritual growth, stability, and honor.
Ø And also in Leviticus 14:4-6 (cleansing of a leper)“Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop.” Cedar wood is part of rituals for purification, signifying spiritual cleansing.
As people of God, we should grow tall in stature in showing Christ, we should be incorruptible and effuse the fragrance of Christ.
How can we, born of sin: 'Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.' Psalms 51:5, become like the “cedars of Lebanon”.
To understand this deeper we need to know what corrupts man.
Hosea 4:6 – “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...”
→ Neglecting God’s Word leaves the soul malnourished and unguarded.
The Psalmist gives the best way to keep sin away. Sin is corruption. Like the Cedars of Lebanon if one needs to be incorruptible by external foes, the psalm 119:11, gives the solution - “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
The Word of God is what preserves the soul from decay.
The Bible – Read it with all your heart and soul in prayer and you shall also be made into the Cedars of Lebanon. The Word of God is like the aromatic oils in the Cedar, which keeps it smelling good and keeps away the insects.
Read the Bible every day. Read the Bible before you read anything else. Read the Bible in prayer, so the Spirit of God can help infuse the aroma in you.
Praise the Lord!
Glory to Jesus.
