A smooth stone called "Daniel"

In the Bible, we come to know of Daniel after he had been taken captive by the Babylonian king – Nebuchadnezzar. It's a time of punitive action by the Lord on His chosen people, Israel. Even amid this punishment, which lasts 70 years – we find Daniel – faithful to the Lord – a true "smooth stone."

In our lives too, there are times when we are tried and tested. We may be experiencing a captivity-like situation. We may be going through a chastisement from our Loving Father God because of the family's sins. But if you turn yourself into a "smooth stone," there is hope in Jesus – a hope of restoration, a hope of elevation beyond your imagination.

The Bible says Daniel served in the courts of four kings spanning two regimes – the Chaldeans and the Medo-Persians. Regimes may change, Kings may come and go - but a precious child of God living the life of a smooth stone will always be on top. A slave turned into an advisor to the kings who ruled vast parts of the earth, he was trusted by the kings, honored, and elevated above their own men.

Daniel was faithful even in the face of adverse conditions in his elevated position. He did not compromise on his principles, even when his life was on the line. He was willing to face death by lions when there came a point where his faith and principles were challenged craftily by his adversaries.

God rewarded Daniel by giving him revelations of the distant future. The book of Daniel has revelations to the end times and beyond.

He was serving King Cyrus when the king ordered the restoration of the temple at Jerusalem, according to the prophecy from God – a pagan king ordering the restoration of the Holy Temple of God.

What a blessed and testimonial life!

Praise the Lord.

Glory to Jesus.
